Godson Ominibie Epelle, professionally known as 1Da Banton, was born on June 27, 1994, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He grew up in Port Harcourt, where he attended both primary and secondary school.

He developed an interest in music as a teenager, inspired by his father’s love of artists such as Fela Kuti and Bob Marley. In 2014, he moved to Lagos and was signed by Adasa Cookey, a recognized video director and the owner of Squareball Entertainment.

1Da Banton made his music debut in July 2017 with the release of his EP, “The Banton.” He gained widespread recognition with the success of “Way Up,” which was chosen as the theme song for the third season of Big Brother Naija in 2018.

He went on to release “African Woman” in late 2018 and continued to create groovy tracks, earning him the moniker “original vibe machine.”

In 2021, he released his debut album, “Original Vibe Machine,” which included the hit song “No Wahala,” which was listed among the favorite songs of the year by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. 1Da Banton has collaborated with numerous artists, including Davido, Ajebo Hustlers, Tiwa Savage, and more.
