Omah Lay Biography: Stanley Omah Didia (born: May 19, 1997: Age: 23 years old) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who goes by the name Omah Lay in the music business. Early in 2020, his self-produced song “Bad Influence” went viral on social media, which brought him a lot of attention. He is also known for featuring with Alpha P on the official Masterkraft remix of Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” single from 2021 and for working with Masterkraft again on “Attention” in 2022. OMAH LAY BIOGRAPHY

Born on May 19, 1997, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Omah Lay was named Omah Stanley Dibia at birth. His early education is a mystery. However, he went on to study Management Sciences at the University of Port Harcourt after attending Port Harcourt Comprehensive High School for his initial two years of secondary education.

It is no news that the Didias love music. When Omah Lay was little, his grandfather was a percussionist for the Igbo highlife performer Celestine Ukwu in the 1960s. Hits like “Ije Enu,” “Igede,” and “Money Palava” propelled him to fame back then. To the end of his life in 1977, Omah Lay’s grandfather also played drums for the great Celestine Ukwu.

When Stanley expressed an interest in pursuing music as a career, his parents were not surprised. He began working with Port Harcourt’s up-and-coming musical talent to produce high-quality albums. But the lifestyle had captured his interest again, and he decided to give it another go.

In the beginning, Lay was known as “Lil King” as he was a member of a rap group. Do Not Disturb and Hello Brother was written and recorded by him when he decided he wanted to prove to himself that he was creative enough. It was at this point that he decided to rename himself “Omah Lay.”

A number of record labels took notice after hearing his tracks and became interested in recording more of his songs. In order to pursue his aim of signing with the Lagos-based label KeyQaad Records, he was required to relocate. He has also been featured in songs by major recording artists because of his distinctive voice and lyrics. He worked with Olamide on the smash hit, “Infinity in 2020.”
