Charles Chibueze Chukwu, better known by his stage name Crayon, is a 22-year-old Nigerian Afropop artist and songwriter. He was born on November 21, 2000, in Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria, and comes from a family of musicians. Crayon grew up in Iba, Lagos State, and completed his primary and secondary school education there.
He has always had a passion for music, which he developed during his secondary school days when he used to fill his notebooks with song lyrics.
Crayon Career
Crayon’s blend of pop, Latino, Afro-oriented, and Caribbean sounds caught the attention of music executive and Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy, who signed him to Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint of Mavin Records. Under the tutelage of Don Jazzy, Crayon had the opportunity to work with top music stars in Nigeria and was featured on the Mavins all-star single “All Is In Order.”
He also lent his voice to Mavin’s “Won da mo” and “Overdose” and released his six-track EP project “Cray Cray” in 2019. In 2022, he dropped the hit single “Ijo Laba Laba,” which became an anthem on the lips of Nigerians and peaked on various music charts.
