Damilola Abdul Razaq Afolabi, better known as L.A.X or Lax Starboy, was born on April 10, 1993, in Lagos, Nigeria. He comes from a family of wealth and prestige, as his father is Taiwo Afolabi, the CEO of the Sifax Group.
L.A.X spent his early years in Lagos and got his secondary school education at the Nigerian Turkish International College.
He then went on to pursue higher education in the UK, obtaining his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Salford University in Manchester.

L.A.X’s music career began in his high school years as part of a three-man group called Flyboiz. They released a single titled “Busy Body,” and L.A.X later parted ways with the group to focus on his education in the UK.
In 2012, L.A.X made his first major solo release with the single “Jaye,” featuring Ice Prince.
He returned to Nigeria and was discovered by Wizkid, who signed him to his record label, Starboy Entertainment, in 2013.
